The Story of Bart

6th February 2017 by Word Press

Lionel Bart from the East End of London was a songwriting genius having a career penning huge global chart hits, musicals, film scores and one of the biggest musicals of all time ‘Oliver’. He was earning every minute the same as the average working mans weekly wage in the 1960′s, but things went wrong, very wrong and by 1972 he was tragically declared Bankrupt. ‘The Story of Bart’ tells the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of Britain’s greatest songwriter.

West End Star John Barr (Les Miserable, Aspects of Love, Evita & Sweeny Todd) will be taking on the role of Lionel Bart telling you his own story, he will be joined by some very special guests and full band performing Bart’s most unforgettable hits as well as one or two songs you haven’t heard before. Was there a Happy Ending?

Coming to Walthamstow for the first time, this fascinating tale will start its UK wide tour with five dates at the iconic former Granada cinema venue, Mirth, Marvel & Maud.
